THE ORIGIN OF TBR: TBR PERFORMANCE ENGINEERING began as a hobby (1989 - present) for me during my Engineering Studies. My Father, Peter Bosson, joined me in my hobby, along with his passion for racing and his valuable knowledge as a fellow Engineer. Together we provided our customers with years of knowledge on racing engines, along with specialised and exclusive services, within all aspects of racing, which turned a passionate hobby into a thriving business. In 1989, with my studies and national service behind me I was able to change TBR PERFORMANCE ENGINEERING into a full time and successful business. I was the first person to blue print an outboard motor for inflatable boat racing. The results were so successful that the precedence was set for all future outboard motor blue printing. Still today, TBR sets the standards by which others gauge themselves. Back to Top PRESENT DAY TBR: I decided to keep TBR a small concern, which comprises of three people, being, my father Petrus and myself. I oversee and manage all aspects of the business, as race engineering. My father, Peter, is a retired Tool Maker and Production Engineer. He designs and makes all the special tools and customised fixtures, which ensures that all our work is precise and of the highest standards and best quality available. Petrus is training with us and he is responsible for all the strip, clean and assembly work, and also does some basic machining for us. Back to Top TBR RESOURCES: Since starting out, we have continually added and upgraded our equipment, n order to offer highly technical and involved services, and at present we have the following equipment at our disposal: Vertical Milling Machine, with Electronic Digital Read Outs (accurate to ± 0,010 mm) Lathe with Digital read Outs (accurate to ± 0,010 mm) Cylinder Reboring Machine Cylinder Honing Equipment General Purpose Mill Drill Universal Tool & Cutter (for accurate grinding) Tig Welder. AC and DC for specialised welding of weldable metals (eg Aluminium, Stainless etc) Specialised Pneumatic and Electric Porting Tools (8 in total). These enable us to get into all the ports, including miniature 90 degree Drive Porting tools to get into the Transfer Ports on Two Stroke Engines 20 Ton Press and a mass of special fixtures which are used to accurately assemble Cranks to ± 0,5 better than 0,05 mm. Glass Bead Blast Cabinet and Paraffin Parts Washer to ensure that components are clean and carbon / deposit free for assemble. Hand Tools, Special Tools and Measuring Tools. These are all of the best quality to ensure that all work that is done is done accurately and correctly.

Due to our understanding of racing and because we choose to be involved in the advancements of motor sport, we are regularly consulted by the various racing affiliations, ensuring that rules and the changes thereof are accurate and fair for everyone involved, in order that we all enjoy the sport.
